What Should I Do In High School If I Want To Work In Pediatrics When I’m Older?

Okay, first off, hello I was wondering what I need to do in high school to get into medical school or something that leads into pediatrics. I know that last sentence was worded odd, but it’s like 11 at night, and this is keeping me up. Honestly, I really never had any idea whatsoever of what I wanted to be , but I always kept a job as a pediatrician in the back of my head amongst other things I might of wanted to do. But lately, I have realized that that is what I really wanted to do. I want to be a pediatric surgeon. I know that requires A LOT of more school and medical school and residency after high school. But it’s what I really want to do. The thing is right now I am a freshman in high school, ( I’m a girl by the way.) currently don’t do any extra curricular activities whatsoever, and am in algebra skills. ( I wasn’t that good in math, and still I’m not fantastic.) At where I stand now , it seems like being a pediatric surgeon, or even working in pediatrics is out of the option. I do well in science, but I know it’s not just science that counts. Another thing is that I live in New Hampshire, which doesn’t really help when I try to sleep at night , thinking about what I want to do, and I know Dartmouth is like an hour away from me. I also know that I’m not aiming just to go to that school. I know there are loads of other people applying at any college at anytime, especially there. Really smart people too. I know this seems like a lot for a question. But I cant help but think about this at night. What do colleges look for? What should I do to get into any kind of college or medical school? I get pretty decent grades though. Ugh. I feel stupid. I know I’m only a freshman, and some people don’t even know what they want to do, but yah…. . Basically what will help?
