I live in Connecticut so I think that might help me a little as far as applying to schools in Texas?
I am half white and half black, my unweighted GPA is probably around a 3.65 to 3.7.
I am in the top 10% of my class of around 460 students, I’m close to the top 5%.
I am a female and want to do engineering, I have taken all Honors & AP classes throughout HS.
Last year I took AP US History and got a 4 on the exam. This year I am taking AP Calc BC, AP Bio, and AP Spanish. I have a lot of leadership and community service activities, such as National Honor Society, Spanish NHS, Unified Friends Club, Human Relations Club (officer), Debate Team, volunteer at New Haven Reads (literacy tutor) and other places. I also am a gymnast, track runner and soccer player. I got a 2070 on the SAT (780 writing, 640 cr, 650 math) and 720 on the Spanish SATII, 700 on US History, 580 on Math I, 660 on Math II, and like 480 on Physics. (really bad, I know) I think my essays were pretty good and my teacher recs should have been pretty good. I also did a summer math and engineering program at Carnegie Mellon for 6wks that was pretty rigorous.
I was deferred from Yale and haven’t heard from any other schools yet.

How long will Muslims deny reality? But maybe their ackowledgment of reality is overcome by their religious fanaticism? If that is true we are in for trouble, big time.

I’m an immigrant from a poor family with little opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities because of transportation issues. I have a 4.45 GPA going into Sophomore year, coming from a solid school in the 4th North Carolina congressional district. I am very well liked and respected by all of my teachers, therefore being adamant that I’ll get solid recommendations. I currently hold a 97 in Honors Algebra II and a 97 in Honors Chemistry I. I was a member of the Duke TIP program, am fluent in both Russian and English, am a member of my school track team, and made it more than evident that I am willing to participate in as many extracurricular activities as I can handle, should I be allowed in. I am a member of my school’s book club and Independents’ Club (political club). I privately tutor several of my classmates, am a natural leader in any and all group assignments, and have professional and businesslike speaking skills. I am pursuing a job in the field of Computer Science , taking Computer Programming I along the way (100% in that class as of now). Every summer, I travel to Moldova alone as a volunteer and “prodigy.” Both my uncle and father are businessmen there, with my uncle being a computer programmer and my father a bar owner. I am taking fairly challenging classes that align with my job field, receiving at least a 94 in every class and accumulating 0 absences throughout my freshman year. I am now waiting for my Discovery Day on the 11th, with my SAT scores due back any day. I’m an excellent writer, and so therefore believe that the essays I submitted to NCSSM were more than adequate. However, I am most concerned with my extracurricular record. I made it very clear in my essay that I haven’t been as fortunate as other students and therefore had no way to get to and from volunteering missions and/or club meetings. The only reason I even have the privilege of currently being a member of several clubs and sports teams is because I’ve been making a 40 minute commute on foot alongside a busy highway for the past two years. I made a stalwart promise to give all my energy into my studies at NCSSM should I get in, pledging allegiance to as many clubs and organizations as I can handle (As I’ve already mentioned ). With all of this in mind, what do you suppose my chances of getting into this school are? I’ve heard that it’s highly competitive, with many of my top-notch friends also applying for admission. I live in the Durham area and have seen the school before while driving by after doing some errands. I plan to attend Duke University literally across the street from NCSSM’s campus if everything goes as planned. Thanks!

I currently attend high school in one of the top schools of the nation and i have a weighted gpa of 4.3 and a SAT score of 2020. I was wondering how good my chances would be of getting into this school. Also, if it matters, i am a US citizen. Finally, how would my gpa be converted into the canadian percentage scale? What kind of education do you think could land me a job as an engineering manager at Exxon Mobil? Is it really that hard to get a job there? How does this sound:

There’s a guy at university who likes me (although I’m not sure if it’s because of my looks or my personality or both). But at the beginning of university, I noticed he was trying to get closer to me and I encouraged it. But then suddenly, he went cold. He would ignore me on Facebook and make sure to sit far away from me in seminars (he still does it now).
I realise he is trying to get over me so I asked my cousin why she thinks he changed so suddenly and she said in life things like these happen all the time and I have to just accept it without knowing the reason. Most of the time, he ignores me and stuff but it’s like when I maybe get close to him that he gets all weird with his body langauge. Like today when I was walking out the class behind him and you could tell he got all self-conscious which I guess it cute.
But I simply ignore him now as he ignores me because I don’t want to look desperate (I’ve already tried in the past and he didn’t take the bait). Plus, I only have till May then I don’t see him again for about five months so when we get back, things should be alright. What do you think?
P.S: I know you might think I’m being vain but I’m not. I can tell he likes me because of how he used to stare at me (even though he doesn’t now because like I say, he is trying to get over me).

I am working on a paper about Title IX, and I cannot find this statistic anywhere. If you can give me a ballpark, something like over 200 or whatever would work out well. Thanks!
