Free Online Courses Similar To Stanford’s Online Ml Course?

By Top University Posted in: Stanford University

I’m currently signed up for Stanford’s online course for Machine Learning.
The course is open to the public with the caveat that you have a some familiarity with linear algebra, as well as a programming language. When the class officially begins (tentatively schedules for early March) you’ll have weekly assignments to complete which you will send in and get feedback on (I’m not sure if you’re graded).
What I am wondering is if anybody knows of any other university/organization out there that are offering free courses to the public. I know about free online resources such as Khan Academy and MIT Open Courseware; I’m curious if there are any other (ideally free) structured online courses out there that allow you to get feedback on the assignments you complete.
I have a feeling the answer is ‘no, nothing else exists’. Thousands of people have signed up for these free classes from Stanford, and that’s a pretty big administrative burden/time-sink to have to deal with that many assignments from students. Not sure how they’re going to manage it honestly…

MIT is currently piloting a program of free online courses called MITx where you can get a certificate upon completion of the courses.
The HomeSchool Club directory currently has a listing of several free programs for learning. Some offer certificates while at least one allows you to an an associate or bachelor’s degree for free. http://www.thehomeschoolclub.org/index.p…
