Hi, I’m fifteen years old and I am a sophomore in high school.
It is my dream to attend Princeton University and I’m beginning to realize how serious I have to be in order to get in. I know that it’s very, very difficult to be accepted into an Ivy but I just want to know if I have a chance at all. Here are a few things about me:
Sports:
- High school lacrosse (freshman and sophomore year, I plan on sticking to it because I love it!)
- Competitive swimming (I swam on a YMCA team in middle school, but I quit so now I only swim for my high school. Also, I’m one of the fastest on my teams and have qualified for sectionals this year.)
Arts:
- Drama club (since beginning of freshman year and I plan on sticking to it)
- Piano (had private lessons but quit at the beginning of freshman year. with piano, I competed in New England Music festivals for three years and have won awards from them.)
Academics:
-Freshman year: all advanced classes
-Sophomore year (this year): all advanced classes except for two honors classes
-I’m a year ahead in science at my school. As sophomores, I’m supposed to be taking biology but I passed an entrance test and got to take biology as a freshman. So I am currently taking a junior honors chemistry class as a sophomore.
-I’m doubling up in geometry and algebra 2. So I’m technically a year ahead in math as well.
- Freshman year I ended with a 4.0 GPA. I know that it’s pretty low for freshman year and I regret not pushing myself harder. I’m going to try to end high school with at least a 4.5 GPA.
- I will be taking AP classes next year.
Girl Scouts:
- I’ve been a girl scout for almost seven years now.
- I’ve achieved the Bronze Award and got an award from my city council for it.
- I’m currently working on my Gold Award.
Volunteering:
I try to volunteer as much as possible since I genuinely do enjoy it. I’ve gotten hours from volunteering with my confirmation class, and I try to help out at an essentials pantry every month.
-I’m also in Caring Hearts at my school, a club where we work to benefit others. For example, we sold Christmas cards to raise money for project bread.
Sorry, I know that was long, but hopefully that gives you an idea of who I am.
I’m hoping to do some classes at colleges since they seem interesting and fun. I live in Boston so I’m surrounded by some pretty big universities.
Thank you for taking time to read this.
Any help would be appreciated.
