What Are My Chances Of Getting Into: Cornell, harvard, Georgetown, nyu, unc, duke, dartmo… And Columbia?
I have a 3.94 so far in the first semester of my Junior year, I’m a junior now. I have an A- in AP Chem, an A in AP US History, A in Pre Calc Honors, A in AP US History, A in English Honors, and an A in Intensive Italian (three years of Italian in 1).
In my sophmore year, I had a B+ in Honors Chemistry, A in Trig and Alg 2 Honors, an A in Global Studies 2 Honors, an A in English Honors, and an A in Spanish 3.
In my freshman year I was extremely lazy and my grades werent as good as they should be: B+ in Geometry, A in English Honors, A in Global Studies 1 Honors, A in Biology Honors, and a B+ in Spanish 2.
All of the grades listed are unweighted and have no sort of cushion. I only listed the grades of 5 core classes(foreign language, social science, lab science, English, and mathematics), as I read somewhere these are the only ones that truly matter. Regardless, I had As in them anyway. The GPA I listed in the beginning is the GPA only taking into account my unweighted grades of my core classes.
I am in Key Club, Chem Club, National Science Honors Society, Italian Honors Society and the tennis team. Tennis is my passion and I play 5 days a week and am state ranked. I’ve been on varsity since 7th grade playing in the 2nd highest spot. I’ve played national tournaments as well as the high school state tournament for doubles.
I plan on playing college tennis. I have yet to take the SATs, but I have been studying for at least an hour everyday, and I take the Princeton review course in March, with only 4 students in it. I plan on taking the May test. The only school that e-mailed me was Dartmouth out of the ones I’m applying to.
Also, I’m an African-American male from Newburgh, NY (dubbed the murder capital of New York). Also I’m in the top 3 percent of my class in Newburgh Free Academy, a school so large in terms of population it had to be split into two campuses.
Also, my brother graduated from Harvard for his bachelor’s and Georgetown for his law degree. He’s an Olympic athlete as well, check him out! His name is Samyr Laine. I thought it would be important for legacy since Im applying to both schools. Any input would be helpful, my parents are confident in me, but Im not so certain, due to the fact that that I’m the only one in my family without a bachelor’s degree and at least one Master’s Degree (My parent’s are Haitian immigrants).
I’d appreciate a response from anyone who doesn’t love me haha
Additional Details
Also, I believe I should get around a 1900 on the SATs. I’m going to take the SAT 2 chem, physics and History exams and am confident that I will score fairly well in accordance to the standards of the schools I’m applying to. I think this should be easy enough for people to read.

Which Is The Best Acting School?
Hi all. I am very passionate about acting and after high school would love to get into an acting school for more experience and education about acting. Have any of you guys gone to any of the schools before, and if so what did you think? For people in general, which of these schools would be the best in terms of prestige and good education. BTW, I am more interested in film acting than in theater acting.
Royal Academy of Dramatic Art
London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art
Yale School of Drama
Oxford School of Drama
The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts
USC

Thanks! I appreciate all feedback and info. Love and hugs to all replies ![]()

Will This Help Me Get Into A Good Private University.?
I want to get into a private university, like Loyola Marymount, Cornell, Boston University, University of Miami or Columbia. I’m at a California Community College right now, and will go in as a transfer. I have a 3.8 GPA and I’ve been volunteering at the Los Angeles Superior Court for a year. I’ll be double majoring in Psychology and Marketing, and want to be a corporate lawyer after that. Do you think its possible for me to get into a private university like those?
How Important Are Senior Year Grades? Ten Points!?
Hi, so I’m a first semester senior (second semester starting in a week), and I’m really concerned about my grades. I’ve kept a pretty solid GPA (As and Bs.. A to B ratio is like 6:4) throughout high school, all honors and APs. But this year, I’m taking 4 APs and 2 regular, and I’m getting a C in AP Calc. I’ve always gotten Bs in math, so it’s not too huge of a surprise, and I’m getting one B and 4 As, so I’m wondering.. it won’t hurt my chances of getting into my top choice, will it?
I’m applying to: UC Berkeley, LA, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Irvine, Davis. And to Columbia, Harvard, Case Western Reserve, USC, Boston College, NYU, Washington University. I go to a prestigious school and have decent extracurriculars, am 1st decile rank.
Thank youuu TT

Hello i need to start studying for the SAT, i haven’t taken it yet.but there are so many different brand of books that its confusing. I read Barrons SAT is the best because its tougher than the actual test but then i hear its not recommended for first time test takers like me. I am getting out of the military in 8 months and my university of choice registration ends in july and starts in march. I have not taken the SAT test when i was in High school. I really need a great book for studying. Please recommend.

I Feel Bad About My Act Score?
I’m a high school senior in the US. I was raised in Latin America and attended a bilingual school for about ten years. I came to the US about two years ago, wanting to someday attend an Ivy League university. So, during my sophomore and junior years of high school, I took honors classes (such as Honors French and Physics, and AP Biology). I got a 4 on the AP Bio exam last year. As a high school senior, I’m taking AP Physics, AP Chemistry, AP Literature, AP French, AP Spanish, and AP Calculus. I have all A’s.
So I took the ACT at the end of last year and scored a 20. I wasn’t satisfied with such a low score. So, trying to improve my score, I bought The Real ACT Prep Guide and did two practice tests (timed). Weeks after I re-took the ACT, I receives the scores and noticed I got a 22.
I’m wondering WHY do I find the ACT so impossible to conquer. Could it be because I’m not a native English speaker? (I know, there are some kids who do better than I on the ACT. Could it be because they are more fluent in English than I am (since they’ve lived more years in the US)?) Could it be because I don’t prepare effectively?
I believe it’s too late now to be thinking of taking the ACT a third time since I’m half way through my senior year, meaning that’s too late to apply to a prestigious university.
If you’re reading this, I’d like to know your honest (unbiased) opinion about what I should do.
Thank you in advance.
